Paul just to say well done to you and the other instructors. I know it must have been challenging to develop such a comprehensive pilot course for Inland Fisheries Ireland but I have to say you exceeded my expectations. As primarily a Law Enforcement Agency, the likelihood of a Fishery Officer encountering a medical incident in the field is high. This pilot course I believe has empowered the students and certainly the feedback I am getting confirms this. Well done to the Academy of Emergency Care.

Firstly a huge thank you to Dave Hick and the other instructors who helped out over the course. Having previously attended and
instructed on various courses myself before completing this course I now have a totally different view on not just only how to
develop and run an EFR course but any course I would like to develop and deliver. Over the course were shown how important it is to
understand our student, material and end objectives. This then enables us to deliver the correct material through various methods to
ensure student development and knowledge gain.
Attending this course at the Academy is a must for all potential EFR-I. A superbly ran course, full of interesting and brain
engaging ideas and practical experience.
Again Thank You

Online feedback:
It was a pleasure to visit the Academy staff delivering training as part of the new UCC Diploma in Military Medical Care. I was
particularly impressed at the methodology being used to introduce the students to the rather challenging concepts of Patient
Assessment, Primary and Secondary survey. I observed Dir. of Training, Paul Allan, delivering a workshop called "Accident Procedure"
and the logical step wise strategies used gave the students an impressive building blocks approach which is a credit to the Academy
in terms of effectiveness and innovation. The method used gave the student a personal insight of what the patient experiences when
they suffer injury or illness. Too often we expect students to have an understanding from what we instruct or they read. Coming away
from the session on Patient Assessment, Primary & Secondary Survey I realised a new and intuitive methodology. |

I found the course very beneficial, not only in my professional
everyday capacity, but also as I am involved as a volunteer with the Coast
Guard.
The course gave me a chance to go back to basics and see first-Aid from the
perspective that first got me interested in the subject.
The simple no nonsence approach and "hands on" attitude of the Instructers
combined with the realistic scenarios and the easy to follow power-point
presentation made this a most enjoyable course. The fact that there were
four Instructers meant that nothing was overlooked and no Student was missed
or left outside the loop. All in all a most comprehensive and more importantly, a most enjoyable course.

I felt this course was a very useful adjunct to my physiotherapy experience and made me a lot more confident to treat emergency incidents in sport and life in general. Paul is an excellent instructor but if I had some negative feedback it would be that I would have liked to apply the defibrillator to a dummy as opposed to just learning how to use it. - January 2007
( Administration Note : Defibrillator training is a specific module ( min. 4 hours ) and the equipment is only described and "de-mystified" on this course - Defibrillator training also requires specific student to instructor
ratios. ) |
Online feedback:
I found the course very beneficial. The duration of the practical sessions coupled with the low student to instructor ratio enabled the group to get the most out of the two days. I would hope to attend similar courses to develop my skills in the future. Thanks. - January 2007.

Just dropping in to say thank you very much for the Emergency Care course that I attended recently with Paul Allan and 'Moss'. Because of my profession (outward-bounds instructor) I have attended many first-aid/emergency care courses over the years but this was the first to really put me through the real-life situations that I was likely to meet in my own work environment.
The scenarios we rehearsed were well structured and managed, every question was answered with detail and no section of the syllabus left to chance. I would definitely recommend a Mountain Medicine course to any professional working with groups in remote circumstances.
Keep up the great courses, see you next year, regards
Paul |
